D&D, AD&D, D20, 3rd, 4th etc.

First game I played was D&D. Played other systems since then. I remember a time like a decade ago when everyone was playing D20. If you wanted to have a game going it better be D20 cause that what people knew. I have some books but have no big interest in playing a D&D/D20 Like game. It reminds me of Mcdonalds. It is everywhere. Sometimes I get a taste for a big mac but most of the time I like to try other burger chains.

Am I alone?

I have partaken of many systems over the years.

My first experience was of course Dungeons and Dragons that was back in '83.
I grew up in a very strict religious house-hold where Dungeons & Dragons was something to be feared. My Dungeons & Dragons playing was definitely on the "down-low"

My first long term campaign was with Victory Games, "James Bond 007". As I grew up I found it very fascinating that my overzealously religious family feared the "demons and devils" of Dungeons & Dragons, but the womanizing, alcohol using, gun toting "license-to-kill" secret agent was just fine to emulate.

Back in '88 I started playing Erick Wujcik's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness". Not a very big fan of Palladium Books, but a huge fan of Wujcik. Don't get me wrong, I've played my share of "Rifts" also.

The '90s brought forth White Wolf's "Vampire: The Masquerade" and the entire modern horror genre that followed.

I played plenty of first edition Dungeons and Dragons, and 2nd Edition too.
When 3.5 came out, I was part of the camp that was pretty open to the changes.

I guess looking back, and to this day, I find myself willing to play almost anything.

I suppose it comes down to flavor...I don't like to be limited to one genre of RPG, but I still come back to my favorites more often than not. For me, the current favorite is 3.5.

Game on...

I am old enough to have played Chainmail with a group of guys in Anchorage, back in 77. I immediately launched into the pamphlet, original edition. We were soooo excited when the hardcover Monster Manual came out.

I loved the original Traveller (haven't played modern), played some White Wolf and other RPGs, but DnD has always been the one for me. I am a fan of 3.5 and am so happy that Paizo updated it to Pathfinder without losing the mechanics or the access to the 80 books I have downstairs. I must admit to still being pissed off at WOC for 4e. The mechanics didn't streamline the game, the progression is boring and limited, and it feels way too much like an expensive video game. WOTC lost me on that one.

To me it is also about genre and the Fantasy world. Eberron showed that you can integrate in Steampunk. Planescape is, by far, the most interesting campaign setting yet. That said, Golarian is quickly growing on me. Paizo has amazing writers.

I dont play DnD.

Well, I have played all versions, but never a big fan....even of 3.5.
Pathfinder was fun, but still suffered from the Silly Syndrome.
Gonna start a 1e game for old times sake.

My game of choice is Harnmaster.

I also play Traveller, in all of its incarnations except for the Silly Era.

Having fun playing a 4e Eberron game now, before that ran a Star Wars Saga game.
Started my RPG career with TMNT and D&D1e, from there to AD&D, and 2e. Ran long Star Wars (WEG) and Earthdawn games, as well as some Werewolf.
Returned to RP after a few years hiatus by running a 3.5 game and had a ball. Odds and ends have chimed in for brief periods: Savage Worlds, Underground, and a homebrew modern paranormal game. Currently reading up on Shadowrun, and contemplating a go at that.

STOP THAT! Stop That!- It's too silly!

Now no one likes a good laugh more than I do, except perhaps my wife,... and Captin Johnson. Actually come to think of it most people enjoy a good laugh more than I do, but that completely beside the point,...
